Suppose one of your nieces is going to choose a major for the university. Write a letter in about 100 words to make a suggestion to her. Do not sign your name at the end of the letter, using “Li Ming” instead.

Dear Xiaobin,

I am glad to know that you are going to enter college and it is my great pleasure to give you some suggestions.

As to the ideal major, I think the one which is most suitable for you is teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages. For one thing, with the development of national economy and the deepening of communication among countries, there will be a sustaining need for Chinese teachers around the world. For another, you have a strong interest in Chinese language, history and culture, which is indispensable to the making of a Chinese teacher.

If you agree with me and want to turn the above dream into reality, you should learn to make friends with people from different countries. Furthermore, you should try your best to have a good mastery of English.

Best wishes!

Yours ever,

Li Ming
